Am I old? – dressing my age

If you have no idea what dressing your age means, you are probably too young for it to matter. Then again, I don’t really know what dressing my age means. What I do know, however, is that I shouldn’t wear certain things any more.

When buying footwear, I have always been the kind of person that doesn’t know what they want until they see it. However, where I used to just buy something that I saw, I now run it past my wife. I’ve been told too many times that the trainers I like are too young for me, that I no longer take the chance. I’m not sure when I became too old for particular footwear, but it’s now a key factor in my choices.

It’s not just footwear it applies to. Haircuts and clothes also appear to have age limits. I know this, because I have seen people who are presented in a way that I think is too young for them. Years gone by, the image of someone dressing too young was an older lady in a slim fitting leopard print dress showing too much cleavage Now, it’s someone in their late 30’s wearing a complete tracksuit while out shopping.

I have no idea when I became too old to dress in particular items happened, but I am aware that if I do it, I’ll look like I’m clinging onto my youth. I didn’t even know my youth had gone anywhere.

Lesson – The age of the advertising models or shop staff is a sign of the target audience.
