Trying to adult – buying in bulk

You are finally making food, rather than buying it ready made in a container. It’s tasty, but ingredients can be expensive.

Here’s a good idea. How about buying in bulk? You decide to go to one of those market style stores. You buy loose, by the kilo, rather than small packets. You are saving money and by saving packaging, helping to save the earth.

You get home with 4 different products spread across 6 full bags. You have nowhere to store these huge packs. Making food from them is a pain; you can’t just tip out a little bit.

Worse still, all that effort, and after spending £80 in a single trip, you calculate to find you have saved a total of £1.65 over buying the small packets of old.

Lesson – convenience wins over frugal
